Friday 3rd December day 12

Just to give you all an update as we are unable to access blogger.com, and some of you following us on www.worldcruising.com/arc (fleet positions) will be beginning to wonder if we have gone 'troppo'.

This seasons trade winds are not set in as yet so the ARC fleet of 238 boats set sail from Las Palmas on 21st November in all directions.  The racers took the Northern route and have had gales and headwinds, we took the extreme southern route down to the Cap Verde Islands and called in at Santiago for fuel on Wednesday, left at 20.00hrs and had favourable winds for the first time.
Sea temperature is 31 degrees and the boat temperature even hotter!  Lots of flying fish and dolphins, our fish catch is now one mackerel and one pretty coloured thing that tasted nice baked with lime, no other boats in sight.  Water maker has been put into commission and is working well as is everything else apart from computer which doesn't like the heat.   We can access email on sulayacht {CHANGE TO AT} mailasail {DOT} com which is a server that compresses text mail into a quick download speed (I do understand when I read the literature, S) if you are using it please do not send any photo's, so if anyone  has sent us anything via rya-online.net we will not get it until landfall.  Likewise neither of our phones will relay voicemail but do take text when we are ashore.

Now having got this far we are going to try and fill in a daily diary with our positions and news this should be accessible at http://blog.mailasail.com/sulayacht We will try and upload the odd photo (like us swimming behind Quicksilver 80 miles of the coast of Africa!) so please bear with us.

Thank you all for your good wishes for this part of the journey,
Love Chris & Sharon
