07:45 15:34.82N 61:28W Heavy rain clouds and sunshine over Dominica this morning. No wind

in this lee of the island. Picked up anchor and headed out through the many anchored yachts to open sea.

08:00 15:34N 61:29W Wind CSE: 345 degrees S.O.G. 7kts motoring for Le Saintes.

09:00 After discussion decided for various reasons to leave Le Saintes until after Pointe A Pitre, Guadeloupe, where the boat’s manufacturers have a presence which had been our next intended stop for various things to be done. Re-set the course to 21 degrees to take us up to Pointe a Pitre leaving Le Saintes to Port. We would hopefully return there on our way along the south coast of Guadeloupe later in the week.

09:30 Wind  estimated to be around E22 -24kts all sail now out, engine off; S.O.G. 8.4kts ETA Pointe A Pitre, 14.00 hrs. Going like a train on close reach; great sailing

10:45 15:54N 61:31.60W Wind: E 23kts. SOG  7kts. Course:21 degrees. Been sailing

only since clearing the lee of  Dominica. Wind  estimated to be around E22 -24kts all sail now out, engine off; S.O.G. 8.4kts ETA Pointe A Pitre, 14.00 hrs. Going like a train on close reach; great sailing

Noon: 16:04.54N 61:31W Still sail only, wind E18 -20 kts SOG 6.4kts CSE: 30 degrees

14:30 16:13.30N 61:31.77W Marina Basse Port, Pointe a Pitre, Guadeloupe. Entered marina berth in strong wind. Thank goodness for fact we have a bow thruster; would have been a real problem otherwise.

After introducing Mr Buckley and Roger to the main attraction ashore – the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ bar and restaurant ( very popular with its free WiFi facility) we had a late lunch ashore in only place serving at 15.30 in afternoon. We returned to Bootlegger to hose wash and wipe down boat from stem to stern removing the coating of sea water she had received on the way up from Martinique.

We are here in order that I can pick up some spare parts for Bootlegger from the local Amel (boat manufacturer) office, including a spare bow thruster prop to replace the one lost in Bequia.

Later Mr Buckley and Roger went ashore to revisit the ‘Pirates’ where they were given several free drinks ..?  I decided to stay aboard where I tidied personal stuff up including paperwork etc, before taking a shower. I then hit the sack after welcoming back aboard my very jolly Bosun and Cabin Boy who were in fine form. We still cannot fathom out how they got all those free drinks.
