Passage: Road Harbour to Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, BVI

Had a great sail around to Cane Garden Bay in fine weather and a good 15 - 20 kt wind. Dropped anchor in good holding sand in this beautiful small bay. Went ashore to dinner. Place decidedly American; most, if not all of the clientelle other than Kevin and I being American along with the mainly line dancing music.

After days of having the runs and severe stomach pains and feverish condition , went ashore with Kevin and took taxi to the Peeble Hospital (known locally as the morgue) where, after spending whole morning in waiting room was finally, after apologies being offered, was admitted to the hospital for tests. Put on drips which, amongst other things, were intended to re-hydrate me. Spent uncomfortable night in feverish condition shaking uncontrollably on a bed in A&E ( they had no ward bed for me) . Initially had no blanket to help keep warm. Finally got one thin cotton one - that, they said, was all they had !  Place was a nightmare. Spent sleepless night subjected to the loud voices and general noise of incoming casualties along with countless runs to the toilet with my drip stand.

Nothing conclusive appears to have been found. Asked for medical report. None forthcoming. As in Martinique, was told I needed to get a Colonoscopy.

Given prescription for antibiotics and other medicines to help contain the condition. Discharged Saturday evening when Kevin came to pick me up and then, after calling by a pharmacy to pick up the antibiotics etc, we returned to Cane Garden Bay by taxi and the boat.
