Berthed in Crews Inn Marina and Hotel complex, Chagaruamas, Trinidad

right alongside the complex's swimming pool and pool bar; very convenient.

 

Most of the yachties in here are Americans who have been here some time

and become something of a little club. We joined them one eveing for their

Pot Luck Supper held in the pool area complete with BBQ. Idea is everyone

has to bring a dish to share with the others.. I made a chocolate mouse

(from packets) covered over the top with chocolate flake to disguise it.

Voted best dish !!!

The hotel is full of U.S. Air Force, Navy and some Marine personnel here to
undertake various tasks associated with the 5th Americas Summit happening

here from the 17th to the 20th of April with Barak Obama as star guest.

 

The event is being covered/protected by a flotilla of U.S. Navy warships,

AWACS surveillance aircraft and F 15 fighters as well as a large forcs of U.S.

Army and CARICOM (Caribbean Community) troops and police.

 

During the week we made the acquantance of many of them around the pool and

at the bar. Has to be said a pretty decent and very professional bunch. Most

knew all about the Isle of Man and its bike races and offshore finance centre,

many having been based  at RAF Lakenheath

 

On their final night after it was all over a number came aboard Bootlegger for drinks

that included a U.S.Navy Commodore (commander of the nine ship squadron)

as well as a Navy lawyer, doctor and Air Force F15 pilot. A good night.
