Deshaies, Guadeloupe, FWI  to English Harbour, Antigua ( 41.1 nm)

 

Beautiful Caribbean Weather: Fine and sunny. Wind: SE Est. 10 to 12kts

 

Crew: FN / KB / MH

 

10:00  16:18.37N 61:47.85W. Deshaies anchorage. After lifting and stowing tender,

outboard engine, bathing ladder etc lifted anchor and headed out into open sea where

a course of 18 degrees was set.

 

Shortly before noon overhauled a 38’ sloop – ‘V.I. Bound’ out of Chicago.

Called her up and we arranged to photograph each other which we did.

 

Noon: 16:35.20N 61:47.6W Motor (2000 rpm) sailing on close reach with all sail out.

S.O.G. 8.5 - 9.0 kts

 

 

15:30 17:00.51N 61:45.88W Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbour, Antigua. FEW

 

16:00 being parked outside the Galleon Dockside bar we had to retire there in order

to update the Bootlegger of Mann inscription above the bar which now reads:

Bootlegger of Mann  1998 / 99 + 2007/ 8 / 10 . This was thirsty work which called for a few beers …

Met up with Trevor the guy who skippered the yacht next to me here in 2007. He now skippers a 

beautiful American motor yacht which is based here.

 

Went over to Falmouth Harbour to eat.
