Thursday 28April Explore fortress and town. Practice mooring stern to (pretend quay) fetch to Finakounda 6nm (S1 M 0.5)

Thursday 28. Ashore to explore large area of Venetian fort and amazing Turkish tower at end of short causeway. Then town for a coffee. Depart 1130 practice laying anchor reversing to a buoy with light crosswind. Get anchor snagged on ledge, so practice unsnagging from opposite angle too. Motor out towards Nisos (Ile) Sapientza, a controlled hunting area, then sails up to fetch ENE to Finakouda. 1400 Pupils anchor us in 15ft off beach. Pleasant place.Preparations ashore for Easter weekend and the beginning of season – SMs all fully stocked, tubs icecream for cornets being delivered, small fishing caiques beached being lovingly painted.
