21 Aug – run ashore, then great sail to Lakka, on Paxoi, the Island just
south of Corfu, where third night of “ loud music” thwarted by power cut
Depart Petriti 1100
Arrive Lakka 1600 21 nm
SWf3, thenWf4 in passage between islands
All ashore in morning – Ang for caffeine and sort out emails (something
about buying a house, or not) whilst skip and Jane get bread, fruit (best ever
grapes) etc Set off under motor but breeze fills in so sails up at 1230. Tack
down S to start with. Wind frees in Dhiekplous Paxon, and Ang takes helm as
D`fly races across to Lakka at 5knts. Many yachts anchored in this pretty inlet
– find a big gap (think recently vacated) and drop anchor. Friendly elderly
Brits on Finnsailer just astern swim over. Wonderful Blackpool accents. Advise
us of small boatyard to try in Preveza. Big swim again, but a bit cooler than
last stop. Jane completes her first ever killer Su Doko. Ashore in duck to find
everywhere without electricity. Melting ice creams and warming yoghurts etc. One
shop has a generator – the rest have candles/paraffin lamps. Tragedy. Beers in
usual bar on way back to beached duck (draft not working but bottles still
chilled). Back aboard- a party is starting at villas high above us. Lights all
flicker on a couple of times, but that’s all. Saves us from another all night
party! Can see huge flashes of thunderstorm way N drifting E. Skip feels a cold
developing – bug picked up on flight back?
