20 July Lazy morning, anchor off Gaios (to checkout ferries to mainland)
and then a tad further S to Mongonisi, and first ever bows to with kedge
Depart Lakka 1000
Arrive Mongonisi 1600, 10nm
Overcast, hot n humid, then sunny Nf2/3 for last mile and half
Lazy start (boiled eggs to use up old bread as toast). Had to dig out
another small jar of Marmite from deep storage (noticed 4.5 euros in Gouvia!).
Lovely wooded coast with low hills. Anchored off main town of Gaios for others
to go ashore and suss out ferries to mainland (none!) for Ed and Rosemary. Will
have to drop them off in Parga Monday morning. Basil plant brought out by Ed
doing well – has to be stowed in heads sink as too hot outside. 31C down below
today Sort kedge and reflective foil on main hatch whilst others ashore. Sweaty
work as no wind yet. V clear water for a swim.Sail 1.5 miles S under genny to
another lovely bay. Amazed how few boats here – perhaps changeover day so all
charterboats back at base. Decide to be brave and try first bows to mooring with
own kedge, Dfl`s old bower. All works well. Warm sea again so lots of swims.
Jane performs magic in sweltering galley. Get wifi without password – hence this
blog. 1045pm local, and 28C down below. Must rig up system for cockpit berths.
Project for after half term. Night night.
