48:44.2N 4:00.3W Monday 19 July Leave well before first light, motor all way to anchor in small cove on S coast of Ile de Batz, then on to anchor in channel between island and mainland 33NM
Depart 0430 to catch flood outside. No moon, no visibility, so tricky exit guided by sector/flashing lights retracing chartplotter snailtrail. Favourable tide all way to Ile de Batz, just off Roscoff. Calm and grey. Slight breeze from dead ahead, so motorsail all way. Creep in to small cove (Port Retter). Anchor so three crew can duck ashore to explore pretty Ile de Batz. Skip gets worried as rocks on bottom and weed get very close at LW. Crew return, thick drizzle drifts thro. Head bit further E into narrow Canal de L`Ile de Batz and anchor close to daytime LW ferry anchor buoys. Rain gets heavier. Yuk – must be getting near home. |
