Sunday 1 June Chilly motor N to Levkas ready for Boat Shopping Day 2. Many pale faces coming other way

Depart Tranquil Bay 1015

Arrive Lefkas marina bows to with laid line 1250  9nmM2.5

Some clouds (usually between us n sun), cold N then NNW 3/4/5

Brrr. Cool. Headwind so motor. Don`t even hoist main. Many many boats coming other way, First day of summer hols for many as truly pale faces. Some huge cats and Italians beginning to appear. Must be nearly 40 boats coming other way. Seem to only be three of us heading N. enter canal 1200. Real struggle for motor even with new prop against v strong headwind. Just manage 3knts.Goosepimples most of way. Make epic decision to roll back bimini – need sun not shade. Led to berth with laid line well in. 35.84euros – expensive. Nearest loos being renovated/retiled, so have to trek a further 200m, and even then some of poorest on voyage. Sun shines so soak up in cockpit, keeping low out of still cold breeze. Walk pontoons/boatyard, meet jolly CA Brit (waiting for serviced gearbox to reappear), find singer Bernard (from Messolonghi) is only a couple of berths away. (They are heading back to France, and their 10 grandchildren, to sell boat and flat and move inland. Think we`d stay in Greece! ) One broker open. Arrange boat inspection 1030 tomorrow. Visit sm, but closed (as Sunday!), Decide eat ashore in most adjacent marina taverna. Good grub. Jane has “skewed” swordfish; skip has brill lamb.
