Tuesday 2 September Sunny morning, then torrential rain. Clears, so motor E two miles to inspect sheltered inlets and anchor for night with lines ashore in secluded North bay of Port Atheni, just before more heavy rain

Depart Spartakhori 1630  Arrive Port Atheni 1800 3nm M1

Forecast S f6 didn`t arrive, but the rain did. Clears for breakfast. Cat inboard goes early. We return alongside. Girls pop up to town in bright morning sunshine. Looks like all boats on main quay are staying a second night as a bit of S f5 forecast, so no room there and big Midnight Sun looks set to stay too. Several massive downpours. Decide can`t face another night of noise from MS so motor E to explore the inlets of Kapali, Abeliki and port Atheni. Anchor right in Abelike but too close to Dutch yacht, so hide below for best part of an hour as heavens open. Blows thro. Complete calm. Upanchor and move on to next bay, Port Atheni. Don`t like bay to S and quay already full of yachts so head to beautiful N bay. One Sunsail well in, and one other Brit (sounds South African) 100m away. Drop anchor and organise two stern lines. But with forecast of f5 decide should put all chain out (have only laid 30m). Put sternline on buoy, lift and relay anchor a bit further out. Spot on as laying all chain (45m) takes us back to buoyed sternline. Anchor feels really well dug in. Will sleep soundly even if wind blows. (It didn`t – wonderful peaceful night. No rain either, and millions of stars as moon not up and so very black here.) Cockpit really wet from all the showers so eat below. First time since we bought Liveloula!
