14 May – motored to St Martin for a change of scenery

No wind, grey and cold

John’s birthday – something one (not twenty one).Early departure with astra to lock in at St martin, still on Ile de Re. We went right inside. Have never seen the bars and restaurants so deserted – early season and C O L D. Unloaded the Bromptons and group trip to La Flotte for birthday galettes and cider. Result - dozy afternoon when back on board! Too cold for Astra BBQ – lovely meal, tart and booze in wheelhouse. Still firing up fan heater and hwb last thing.

15 May Jane went “shopping” (relief - didn’t buy anything); Jane, John and Danuta walked the fortifications, skip and Jan assembled the timber mast supports in preparation for the canal. Another meal in the wheelhouse.
