Wed 16 July Motor then sail (slowly) up spectacular W coast of Paxos to enclosed bay and village of Lacca

Depart Monganissi 1230

Arrive Lacca1545 9nm M2.25 S1

Light winds forecast so decide to go uphill and offshore along W coast of Paxos. Many spectacular caves and cliffs. Long narrow island lies 11o`clock to 5o`clock. We head around S end then due W to try and get a fetch NNW with NW expected to fill in after lunch, so a bit far out to get best view of many caves.  Will come downhill next time and stay in close. Only just making 3knts when switch off engine. So what. No rush. Sail inside last offshore rock. Find nice space to anchor in 12ft. Have chat with Brit Nauticat 33 neighbour Slip Slidin Away. He bought in USA and shipped her home!  Get really pissed off by arrogant Brit who comes in late and anchors too close to us and others. Old boat with bowsprit, protruding transom stainless bathing platform, and nasty guardrail so will dent others first. The Skip couldn`t care less, reads a book and ignores all as drifts v v close to us then others. Wife gets concerned, puts out fenders and shortens anchor chain. They should have reanchored, but instead pile ashore in duck. Bad seamanship. Taints all Red Ensigns. Put all our fenders out. Take note of SSR number in case he bangs us in night. Fortunately v calm and no contact. In morning see another Brit (who was there first) has to let out more chain to avoid collision. Need bread so head ashore 0830. Mercury takes some starting. Think needs a good service. Will see if Alan C can show me round a 2stroke when back home for half term.
