17 June – a scorcher, much motoring, visit pretty village and anchor off
beach with clear oh so warm sea.
Depart Girolata 0545
Arrive Sargone 1400 21nm
Another scorcher – wonder when we’ll next see a cloud!
Skip cast off solo 0545. Much motoring again, so crew woken too! Franchise
stop at Cargese for diesel (but not working for a couple of days so none
available!) and bread etc. Climb steep hill to village. V impressed. Quiet
marina a bit off the straghtline track for yachties and better that write up in
pilot (which is now separated from hard cover having flown across saloon one
rough day last week).Good shopping and 2 wonderful churches, esp L`eglise
Grecque. Stunning internal decoration. Tack (well, actually gybe) downwind 5nm
to Sargone, anchor in 24ft just outside swim area yellow buoys in clear sea,
which we discover is wonderfully warm (and v salty). All 4 (yes including Jane)
have long swim with view up long long valley to snow clad peaks. Weird. Christen
the black bag shower - just enough for the 4 of us. Duck out to motor ashore.
Locals port with nice bar– spot garage so do later run ashore to fill a gerrycan
(18ltrs). Too hot for cooking so cold meats salad in cockpit. Oh
joy!
