38:27.60N 20:39.81E Thursday 4 September Sail some of way for swim stop in One House Bay on uninhabited Othoni. Downpour just after arrived. When clears motor W to Frikes on Ithaca for night Depart Kastos 0840 Arrive OHB 1045 7nm M1 S1 Depart OHB 1215 Arrive Frikes 1400 8nm M1 S 0.75 Motor out and part way across to One House Bay. Forecast gives cloud, but no rain. SSE wind fills in to give tight reach SW. Clouds to N. Think we`ll stay dry. Three boats already anchored at OHB – probably stayed last night. Anchor quite close in. Girls go for swim. Black clouds roll over high Othoni from NW, and heavens open. Girls swim back onboard quick. Open jar Cadbury Hot Chocolate Instant dug out of deep storage for D`fly passage home. Sit out long long showers. Thought may be raining for rest of day, but stops noon. Bail out duck and head W to Frikes. Go alongside. Rig plank outside fenders but effect of Italy to Greece ferry wash building in V shaped bay not as bad as previously experienced. Word is ferries asked to slow down and pass well offshore as has been much damage when yachts raft up and don’t ensure masts won`t hit if big roll. Skip and Jane explore new track up to NE. Need walking sticks and more time. Rig generator ashore again as fridge working hard depleting batteries – not much sun for flexi solar cells. Meal at Penelope`s. Best salad in Greece! Order too much so bring back for tomorrow`s supper! Excitable waiter, but doesn`t know a Liveloula. Sees piki and thinks it`s a mozzi! How dare he. Waitress understands and explains a Liveloula is much bigger, beautiful, and fast, in Greek! |
