17 July Motor to huge marina at Gouvia, 4 m north of Corfu Town, to clean ship, replenish supplies and await the arrival of Ed Maltby
Depart Ay Dtefanos 0930
Arrive Gouvia 1200 9nm
Sun but no wind

Motor around the mountainous NE corner of Corfu island, past a number of coves with many anchored, and across bay to huge Gouvia Marina. See super myacht Ace, and a strange craft, Garcon(with helicopter on aft deck) anchored up Greek side of the straights between Corfu and Albania. Top up diesel on way in. Marina has 1235 berths – go bows to with 2 sternlines. Low pontoon so christen bow boarding ladder (one step) for first time. Friendly, efficient staff. Pay for a month as we will be back in a week leaving D`fly while we fly home for a few weeks. Clear formalities (on entering Greece) with port police. All very relaxed. Details written in book, fill out form with boa/crew details (immigration control?), pay 15euros, get receipt and that’s it. Requirements all rather vague – seems we are under size (10m?) so don’t need a transit log or anything, and don’t have to clock in with port police at each stop.  Who knows! Nice swim pool next door, so have quick dip as v hot (no wind in here yet).Hectic afternoon cleaning, shopping, visit laundry, and big deckscrub n hosedown. Rosemary heads into town for sightseeing and then airport to meet Ed. C & J finish clean at 2100 – too late for another swim as v hungry and head for Harry’s (recommended by George in Taormina). Excellent meatballs in magic tom sauce with rice and chips (Skip) and souvlaki(Jane) but odd charges on bill. May have got the beers wrong, but what the heck. Will go again when return. Ed arrives 0200, 3.5 hrs late due to technical problems with aircraft.
