16 July – forecast of light winds for AM, so early start to hopefully bag a good spot to anchor for night in small inlet on NE corner of Corfu, (Albania about 1.25m away!)
Depart Ericoussa 0800
Arrive Ormos ay Stefanou, Corfu 1300 21nm
NWf3, then zilch

Nice start doing broad reach 4/5knts under full sail. Keel humming. Fades after an hour. Engine on! Got Greek yoghurts for breakfast now. Clean/mop out/explore fridge (which is working well). Do this every 4/5days. Reload with beer (that`s daily). Sea down forehatch as bows put into ferry wake. Bedding quicky dries in scorching sun. Corfu first looks like white cliffs of Dover, and further along gentle wooded mountains falling to sea. Secluded coves on NE corner have tripper boats stern to and grocks ashore. Anchor in attractive inlet, but end up bit close to Brit cat so move further in. Danish, German, Dutch (lots), French, Norwegian, Austrian and other yachties already here. No mboats anchored. Sea a bit warmer than last stop – but not so clear. No tide/swell to flush it out. Usual lunch snack – tom/onion salad, bread, fruit. Lovely bay with tavernas and small boats at head, but as warned in Captains mate – many “Padstow” Brits ashore. Skin colour suggests many just arrived. Aren’t we fortunate – been going 10 weeks now,and not yet half term. Tank water not tasting good, and running out of bottled tap water. Will have to have beer ashore and request a Volvic 3ltr fillup (nero parakalo!) for cuppas till get to Gouvia marina tomorrow. Girls do more Greek learning.  V loud Brits on lilos. They get V excited by topless on Frenchy near us. Skip thinks of going bottomless, but decides not to. Flotilla arrive. All Dutch – interesting viewing as they lay kedges or go stern to on a taverna’s pontoon. Hear its bbeans n pancetta for D`fly supper tonight, and eat ashore at “Harry`s” tomorrow. Stroll ashore Minimarket has loads of Brit food. Alpen 7.48euros! etc etc We buy Uncle Bens boil in bag, beer supplies and some brown bread (to go with BBs – and very good it was to. So much better than the Italian stuff). Oh my god! Waiter who served beer had voice just like Tom Conti! Also see small Sunseeker with Brixham on transom. Speak to VVV posh n friendly elderly skipper, but he doesn’t own boat. Does know Salcombe well! Hear Rach down to last two. Fingers crossed
