Monday and Tuesday 14 & 15 July Long leg N to Emerald Bay on AntiPaxos, then short hop to enclosed bay of Mongonisi, on S of Paxos

Monday 14 July

Depart Preveza 1000

Arrive Emerald Bay1615 29nm M4.25 S2

Not a cloud to be seen. Dead flat calm to start, so motor till f3 at 1400. More N in wind than yesterday. Can`t lay AntiPaxos. End up putting in one reef. (Mark skip put on second reef line seems to be in wrong place!) Full genoa, and several tacks to get in close to EB. Discover Imray chart missing. Suspect blown overboard, but fortunately inherited a spare with boat! Looks like some yellow boys to keep us off beach, but two cats have anchored within. Big yacht leaves as we arrive, so circle and take his spot in 20ft with 30m chain. Loud “music” from big tripper boat anchored with stern lines ashore. All a bit grockly. Sea temp not quite 30! Trippers head back to town/mainland. Closeby charteryacht reanchors further in. Surrounded by nice Italians – one expertly upsanchor from close to ours late and heads off N. Let out more chain as holding not great here, but light overnight winds forecast. Big super sailingyacht As+ara (Douglas) stays night too. V rolly.

Tuesday 15 July

Depart EB 0930

Arrive Mogganisi 1030 3nm M1

Cloudy! Low grey ones, with a bit of thunder, so decide to motor up to v sheltered bay at Mogganisi straight after first cuppa.  Thunder clouds drift S. Remains cloudy. Forecast of f5/6 later so want to be tucked up safe. A couple of spaces on quay so creep in stern to. About 1ft under rudder, a bit more under keel. Dropped anchor a tad early as on rope, but nice and straight. Walk 45mins each way into Gaios for some expensive provisions. Boats either side gone when get back, so anchor must have been straight. Dutch OCC come in both sides. Tiddler (28footer) to port – not enough chain in locker, and no beefy bitter end, so donate shackle to get a rope on. Mainly families here now having fun. Sailing Holidays flotilla arrive. Look a bit green as early in week. One runs aground! Great kedge launch techniques on the small ones – just chuck and dash to bow. SH flotillas always having much fun and joy, with excellent support boats/crew. Having discussed huge success of Cosmote dongle on walk to town fire up Surface to find signal too weak. Well tucked in from wind (which doesn`t materialise) and 3G signal! Get txt from Rach. Been back a week since weddins break, and so busy only managed one quick windsurf. Tough this inconvenient “work”! Realise we will be packing up to fly home one week today. Shorts or trousers?!! Evening beers ashore. 4euros for megalis. Ow.
