23 September Long leg S from NE corner of Corfu Island to just short of S
tip
Depart Ay Stefanos 1100
Arrive Patriti 1600 20nm
Dead flat oily calm, Wf2 then 3 n 4 for last 2 hours. But cloudy to start,
more high clouds from 1400 (but no rain!)
Heavy dew. Morning paddle ashore to get bread and wine. (Get fishes
tomorrow!). We like the Boutari rose at 4.95euros, so get a few bots.Ghost along
at less than 2knts, so motor on. Wind disappears. George takes us across bay,
past Corfu old fort and S. Afternoon wind (and high clouds) fill in from W.
Duncan helms as skip plays with sheets building to 5knts on reach. No waves as
offshore. Ideal for D`fly. Catch up Beneteau 43.3 in shifts, but she creams away
from us when strengthens to f4. Arrive Patriti and go bows to on quay. Only 2
anchored off. Pole squeezes in to stbd. Friendly Dutch to port. We like Patriti.
We stop whenever passing. Good location as still over 20 nm to next good port to
S, and seems good holding if can’t get in on small quay. Popular with flotillas
too. Apparently village built in 1970s when geologists discovered nearby hilltop
(anti invaders location?) village of Korakadhes was sliding down hill! Jane and
Duncan explore path to S (and discover cove and taverna). Skip does blogs.Eat
out at taverna looking out over harbour to mainland. Mountains going an autumnal
evening purple. Do usual – several starters, one main, all together. Calamari
excellent – fresh from local fish fleet. Cool air temp. Need sweat shirt/cardis.
Beer glasses frosted from fridge. Not really needed now. Light pollution from
quay lamps. Duncan spots two planets. Disappointed to learn masthead anchor
lights! Canned Greek dancing from another nearby taverna, for one of the
flotillas. Fortunately doesn’t go on very late.
