19 July want to get to Nisos Paxoi (Paxos), 7m S of Corfu – an island 5m
long by 2.5m wide and Ormos Lakka, a large inlet on NE corner with clear sea, a
patchwork quilt of blues and green
Depart Petriti 1000
Arrive Lakka 1430, 19nm
More sun, just like back in England, but not much wind
Dash ashore for bread, and see “squid” fleet selling sardines! No wind so
motor in oily sea. Nice fetch for last hour or so. Lovely inlet with crystal
clear (and warm) sea. Anchor with (unexpected)loads of room in 11ft. Jane not
squealing as descending ladder, and now diving in off bowsprit too. How brave.
Flotilla boat races in and drops bower miles out and to windward to go stern to
rocks next to friend, not giving a thought to ours. Ed learnt lots today. How to
send a text (previously could only reply), how to raise/lower outboard on
blockntackle, and other boatwork. Getting really good now. Catchup with second
test on kindle. Sounds good as ozzies all out for 128!Ashore to Mandi’s Bar for
beer with excellent nibbles, and good wifi. Lovely village with many pedestrian
streets/shops – no real tat here. Choose quayside taverna, Arriva, as like look
of 16.50 euro menu. Excellent value. Wine extremely palatable – not our
previous experience of Greek vino. Loud gang of posh rich Brits +
daughters/friends at next table.May have been those that chucked anchor near us.
Uncharitable as refuse to buy good led torch for 3 euros from deaf vendor (we
get a couple). (They are probably blogging scruffy load of noisy old gits next
to us last night!!) They leave, we stay on and enjoy balmy evening.
