Wednesday 27April Basic seamanship exercises in huge Navarinou Bay, then good sail S to stunning castled Methoni 9nm (S1.5 M 0.5)

Wednesday 27 Lazy start getting final provisions. Motor out into calm bay 1215, demo hoisting/setting sails, tacking, gybing and reefing then head out to sea, check swell died down and S to Methoni. Broad reach with 2 reefs in. Ideal for new crew. Wow. Imposing Venetian fort on headland and short causeway to Turkish tower. 1415 practice anchoring in 10ft. Duck ashore, castle closed – opens 0800. Classy town. Beer on beach. Go vegi on board.
