27 August great sail along mainland coast SE then motor in long channel up
to Cleopatra Marina, just across the narrows from town of Preveza
Depart Ligia 1030
Arrive Cleopatra Marina, Preveza 1515 19nm
Wind freed and built to strong W f4 (5?)
Followed Dutchie out. Still not sure if dark patches were rocks, or just
weed. Course SE, but wind SE so head out to sea on port doing gentle 2 knts.
Wing gradually builds and follows sun so we tack over and fetch all the way to
Preveza, ending up doing 6 knts on broad reach. Great sail. Wind blowing
straight down buoyed entrance channel – would have been v difficult for D`fly
trying to motor out! Get Cleopatra on VHF and allocated sternline berth.
Efficient marina, but rather isolated – across the narrows from the main town.
Have to either get the daily marina ferry (leaves 1000 returns 1200) or walk a
way to get the bus the goes thro the tunnel under narrows. Minimarket – not
much there- no veg or fruit. So we were tomless for the evening! Engineers
office shuts (at 1500?) so will have to make arrangements for haulout to replace
severely eroded anode tomorrow.
