Wednesday 18 June Good sail due N to Cleopatra marina, Preveza, to meet surveyor

Depart Spartakhori 0930

Arrive Cleopatra Marina 1515 21nm S4.5 M1.25

Sunny morning, overcast afternoon S f2/3/4 NW backing WNW f2/3/4

Quite a way to go today, so fairly early start. All sails up as soon as clear of quay. S wind, hooray blowing the right way.Dead run but head off on stb`d to keep up speed and clear isolated rock in sound. Then gybe and goosewing all way to canal buoys. Wind building all time so no need for engine to keep on schedule. Find good f4 when do 180 to drop main Enter canal 1200. Note chart submerged mole to portof first port buoy with only 2.3m. Hadn`t noticed before! Not much traffic in canal so sail up to just before dump (about 2nm) on genoa, exceeding speed limit of 4knts. Furl and motor to pass dredger and traffic. Too early for 1300 bridge opening, even after drifting last 0.5nm at 1knt engine off and bare pole. Hanging about in a queue. Really cross when grumpy German barges past us in Amel  to wait in front for bridge. No wave or nod, just focused arrogance. So follow him out, sails up straight away and great sail 5nm due N to Preveza fairway buoys, coaxing D`fly into 4s on tight reach. A few holes, eventually freshens and frees so an easy 5knts.Start buoys at 1430 – marked 1.5knt adverse flow as inland sea are fills and empties with wind driven “tide”. Excellent marinio at Cleopatra to take bow lines and lift laid line. Another SO35 is here, so have a chat with nive and practical owners. Let`s go and meet the surveyor!
