To sami to pick up Jane and John. Out to anchor at Peri Pigadhi, S Ithaka

38:19.76N 20:44.60E Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 September S to Sami for Goss Custard pick up. Out for night at anchor at Pere Pigadhi on SE tip of Ithaca Mon 8 Depart Fokki 1230 Arrive Sami 1515 14nm M0.5 S3.25 Jane walks over top to Fiskardho with Astra gang. Gets some humus – only decent humus can find in Greece! Head S to Sami for next guest pickup. Sad saying farewell to Bootlegger – not sure when our paths (course) will next cross. Good N wind down channel between Kefalonia and Ithaca, so sails up straight away. Zig zag, then go goose winged as dead run. Wind goes funny before get in to strong f4 WNW across bay to Sami. Plenty of room on quay. Go stern to well in so can get diesel as well as water. Diesel man arrives soon to fill others so get 70ltrs for 100 euros. Replenish stores. Get two giant beefburgers. Remoulded into 4 normal sized and leaves plenty for bolognaise following day! No fat either.
Tuesday 9 Depart Sami 1430 Arrive Peri Pigadhi 1630 9nm M0.75 S1.25 Water up, wash down decks and below. Await prompt arrival of Jane and John Goss Custard on 1300 bus from Argostoli, arriving 1400ish. Sunny day, forecast NW f4 with f5 further out. Head straight out E. Sail (reach/run) much of way. Drop sails just before rounding S end of Ithaka, to motor N against f4 headwind up and NW 1nm to anchor in slight bay of Peri Pigadhi. Quite a few stern to shore further N. We get good spot at anchor in 20ft. Bunch of sea kayaks arrive and camp on beach for night. Team leader seems to get blazer out from waterproof bag to dress for camp fire dinner! Watch pupil trying to learn eskimo roll. Seems too much talking not much doing. Pupil can`t get the hang of it! Aforementioned beefburgers for us. |
