Thursday 10 October
Awoke 0400 with a belisha beacon flashing nearby – actually a thunderstorm way to W. Began to hear thunder too – then sound of rain, heavy rain, very heavy rain and thunder n lightening overhead. Sudden wind from NNW. Main hatch leak again as boat bows down with Skip, Jane and 40m chain way up fwd, so skip moved to back of stern cabin, with laptop, and gets blogs uptodate. Storm all gone by 1130. Celebrate with bacon and eggs. Tidy up. Find 4 cans Bass in deep storage, but mystified where Skip’s cream trousers have gone. Find belt, that’s all Only got scruffs to wear out for evening and journey home. Cycle to explore town 1500 and shopping – streets quiet. Buy 125gm yoghurt!

Friday 11 October
Cloudy start. Skip to town for bread. Loads of kids cycling to school. It’s dead flat country ashore.Clears by 1100, hot sun. No wind. Hoist sails to dry, lower, fold on pontoon and stow away below. Jane goes shopping for mince. Successful – combination of pigeon Greek and sign language. Not much English spoken here.Gets 26 degrees in saloon by late afternoon. Delay liftout till Wednesday – realise better being afloat than 6ft up ashore not able to use sink or loo, and not sure about sea cooled fridge too. Get wifi without broken bat (Mailasail email to say bring home and they will replace), book skiing flights for Feb. Skip performs the Great D`fly bake Off – yoghurt cake (3 eggs hand whisked, 1 pot yoghurt, 1 pot oil, 2 pots sugar, 3 pots plain flour, 1 sachet (11gms) baking powder). Supposed to be 30 mins in oven – after knife test shoved back in and turned heat up. After 1 hour looked good so removed. Tasted excellent,  but process generates so much heat in cabin not a summer activity.Hot showers in nearest octagon. Mozis about tonight so light smelly spiral in cabin entrance and put tablet in 12v gadget in fwd cabin. Does the trick.

Saturday 12 October
Bit of rain overnight. Gorgeous cloudless day tho a bit humid to begin. No wind at all. Air temp must be 25 and gets 29 in saloon late afternoon. Another visit to town on Bromptons. Many more Greeks about – lots on bicycles. Think there’s a uni so many students. More boat tidyup, at slow speed enjoying sun, including all gear in stern locker. Relaxing. V pleased came here for winter. Excellent clean loos and showers, fine marina taverna, interesting town closeby.

Sunday 13 October
Misty night, quite thick fog at dawn. Lots of dew, but warm. Sun gets thro 1130 to be another cloudless hot day. Change oil/filter.Top up diesel from gerrycan. Head for what we discover is the regular Sunday BBQ for liveaboards. Seems to have been arranged by Frenchies. Good to see half 50 gal oil drum used – nothing posh. Bring own grub/beer(some of remaining Bass as special treat). Sit under someone’s cat to avoid strong sun. Gain lots of knowledge Dozy afternoon back aboard in sun pretending to read kindle. Chiefs wop Cardiff stars in Heineken 44-29 (41-3 HT!) Long early evening walk ashore- along prom and into town. Pedestrian areas now buzzing. Tavernas and bars busy too. Must rig lights on Bromptons so can join in

Mon 14 October
Thick fog at dawn. Visibility down to 150m at one stage. Jane goes for jog in the fog. Burns off by 0915 to be another windless cloudless day. Potter doing boat bits all day. Fit Brompton rack and back light. Light doesn’t work! Sort tomorrow
