Mon 6 June Motor S to inspect anchorage off Arkhanglos, beat SSW around bottom of lowlying Nisos Elaphonasos, anchor in Ormos Levki on E coat 25nm (S3 M1.75)

Cast off 0945. Motor S 5nm to look at anchorage off beach at Arkhanglos. Looks good bottom off second beach to N of village (not so good right in off village as many moorings and partially sunken buoy). 1115 WSW f3 fills in – heading SSW on stbd, can just lay W coast of Elafonisos. Get headed so put in short tack on port.Freshens towards S of island so put in two reefs. Fast reach along S coast, motor N up W coast to anchor in 20ft in Ormos Levki, 1430. Frenchy and German already in.Swim reveals bottom is not sand, but flat rock and anchor is slowly dragging. Reanchor further S (as vaguely suggested in pilot) and find good sand between patches weed in22ft. Explore ashore to discover large sensible campsite inland from Ormos Sarakiniko beach , small mm (only just stocking up), decent showers, many rubbish bins on beaches, and shallow recently dug narrow trench along edge of road ready for internet cable (going where?). Pretty island with long sandy beaches – more Caribbean than Greek! Like it.
