Shortly after our encounter with the fishing boats we crossed back into Australian territorial waters and stayed there until this morning. We had been told that staying in Aussie waters as long as possible was the best way to avoid the fishing fleets and it seems to have worked as we haven’t seen one since. We expect that to change as we get closer to the islands of Indonesia and start to come across local fishermen.

We’ve been making excellent progress at a steady average of 6 knots. At times the wind and sea have got up making it a bit uncomfortable, but otherwise it’s been great sailing with a waxing moon giving us light for much of the night.

With 175 miles to go, our ETA in Tual is during the night of 31st/1st, so we will probably have to slow down to arrive in daylight on the 1st.
