We stopped overnight at Grande Anse d’Arlet on our way to Fort de France.  It was an enjoyable sail round the south coast of Martinique with the wind behind us.  We passed close to Diamond Rock, which the English occupied with a few sailors and used to bombard French shipping.  They held it for a number of months - long enough for it to be classed as a ship - before the French reportedly wrecked a ship carrying rum on the rock, and then retook it when all the English were drunk.  That’s just not cricket!.

Grande Anse d’Arlet was quite busy - its only a short hop from Fort de France, so is a popular weekend spot for local sailors from the capital, but we managed to find a vacant mooring buoy for the night.  The buoys have been laid to reduce the damage to the sea bed from boats anchoring and are free of charge.
