A week ago Serenity was launched and we spent three nights alongside while sorting out sails etc, putting everything back where it belongs. We hired a car for a day and went shopping as this meant we could stock up from Epicurean, then on Friday we slipped the mooring and sailed south. Wonderful feeling being on the move again. The wind was a steady force 4 and we made excellent time down to Deshaies on Guadeloupe and a restful two nights at anchor continuing to do clean-up jobs.

The anchorage was almost deserted, as the season doesn’t really start until December, and the village was quiet too.  We had coffee in a deserted restaurant with lovely views over the bay (and amazing flower arrangements) and enjoyed French bread and cheese for lunch!

Yesterday we continued south to the small marina at Riviere-Sens, and have been using the ‘free’ water to finish off the big clean-up. Serenity has now been thoroughly scrubbed of the summer dirt picked up in the boatyard and there is just a bit of polishing to complete the job. Sadly the bakery that was here last time we visited appears to have closed, so there were no croissants for breakfast, and the Pelicans that provided hours of entertainment in February seem to be busy elsewhere.

Tomorrow we head for Iles de Saintes for a bit of relaxation and swimming.
