Last Sunday we came into Auckland from the islands. We wanted to shelter from any strong winds associated with ex-cyclone Gita and to prepare Serenity to be left for a month while we tour down to South Island. We are staying in Westhaven Marina, the largest Marina in New Zealand, handy for the city and for marine suppliers and services. We are having an extra small reef added to the main sail, for if the wind gets stronger, having the liferaft serviced, fitting a new Genoa halyard and of course Sarah's making progress on the upholstery.
Phil caught the bus to Whangarei to pick up the car and we are all set to go.
Gita passed further south and we felt very little effect!
