Well the few days in Jolly Harbour turned into five. Three nights in the Marina where we were able to get some jobs done and then three nights at anchor in Mosquito Bay.
The beauty of marinas is not just that they are secure and you can take showers but also you can be more sociable. Last time we were here we had met Gavin and Pat on Sea Hawk, another Moody 376. so this time we were able to invite them over and got to know them better. Thane, who we had met in Riviere Sens, was also here, this time on his own boat with Brenda his wife. Brenda and Thane had spent some time in England and Brenda had mentioned that she loved Devon so Sarah had the idea of having a proper Devon cream tea and inviting folk on board. Epicurean, the local supermarket was able to supply the Devon Cream. Sarah baked scones and chocolate sponge cake and we had Gavin and Pat, Thane and Brenda and Ted from the Westerly moored alongside us for a very nice couple of hours.
Thursday we moved out to the anchorage, Saturday we cleared customs and early Sunday left to sail over to Nevis where we now are on a mooring off Charlestown. Today having cleared in we caught a bus out to Golden Rock, an old plantation now a rather nice hotel. You are welcome to walk round the beautifully laid out tropical gardens and can have lunch on the patio of their restaurant. Then we walked back to Charlestown on a walking trail, mainly on road and no indication of where to go. All of this is a recommendation from Chris Doyles pilot to the area.
