In the early hours this morning the wind died away so it was on with the engine, probably be on for about 3days as we cross the area of high pressure. The forecast for our approach to New Zealand has improved, as we leave the high we should get NW winds soon going S to take us into North Island. This is a trough between two high pressure areas but fairly narrow. Other boats we have been talking to have much the same idea but those who have followed Metbobs routing (an ex forecaster who offers passage planning assistance) are about 80 miles further west than us so have that extra distance to make up but they might get the wind sooner.
Sorry we can’t send pictures of the lovely blue skies but this satellite system will not allow us to send large files.
