Arrived in Vava'u yesterday morning after a mixed crossing from Niue. No wind for the first 20 hours then building to 20-25knots. As we didn't want to arrive in the dark we just had a scrap of Genoa rolled out, almost bare poles, and still did 5 knots plus at times dead down wind. The hydrovane, wind powered self steering, steered perfectly.
Tied up at the fish quay and cleared in with customs and MAF, health officer was busy so we have to wait till Tuesday for our health clearance (Monday is the Crown Prince's birthday). We ran out of gas last night which we knew was a possibility, we couldn't refill after leaving Papeete, so we have to eat out until the bottles can be refilled here.

But at least we can make tea with a camping cooker in the cockpit.
