Sorry about the lack of blog updates, we seem to have got out of the routine somehow....

After a weeks cruising from Marmaris  to Bodrum with my sister, brother in law and their grandson Joe, who I hope had an enjoyable and adventurous time...... Trish, Curious and I are now on the hard at yatlift boatyard while Curious has her annual bottom clean and re-antifoul.

This is is our fourth visit to Turkey and we chartered our first "bareboat" here in Bodrum in 1998, returning the following year for our second. After buying Calico our first boat we brought her here in 2007 to have her teak decks replaced and to be sold to make way for curious the following year.

Turkey appears on the surface to be more prosperous than when we were here last and far more expensive with marina charges at least doubled if not more so and petrol and diesel probably more expensive than Europe. having been asked to keep our fuel and water tanks as low as possible we had to refuel 850 litres in Marmaris....an expensive mistake when compared to fuel prices in Thailand.

However, the Turkish people remain as friendly as ever, foodstuffs inexpensive and excellent quality and evidence everywhere of investment in infrastructure and tourism. The cruising is excellent if the winds a little flukey and Trish and I intend to head back here in a few years time.

We should be here for no longer than 1 week and will then head west to Gibralter.
