After a boisterous overnight sail from Rangiroa in the Tuamotus we are now
moored stern to the town quay in Papeete, Tahiti, Society Islands. After
weeks of small islands, few people and limited facilities Papeete is a
bustling metropolis, with traffic lights (and traffic jams) hotels, shops,
cafes and restaurants, heady stuff.
The 15 to 20 knot forecasted winds quickly became 20 the 30 knots and the
seas built to between 3 and 4 metres making for a fast, if a little
uncomfortable, 24hour, 200nm passage. Time to catch up on some sleep and
appreciate a floor that is not heeled and rolling from side to side!
