We have come across the 20nm due east to Manihi, a larger atoll with
excellent snorkelling and diving.
In 20 to 25 knot winds the journey across was boisterous and the entry
through the pass into the lagoon a challenge with only 0.5m of water below
the keel as we crossed the sand bar at the inner end of the channel. Once
inside the lagoon we had to thread our way between numerous coral patches
both large and small as well as buoyed Oyster beds.
It certainly gets the adrenaline flowing through the veins.
