After the excitement of last night things have settled down and we are now
sailing at around 7.5knots in perfect tradewind conditions, 15 to 25kt winds
and big rolling seas.
Although hampered by the loss of our cruising chute we continue to make good
progress and our current ETA is some time after dawn tomorrow.
Although tired after a sleepless night we are all well and looking forward
to being re-united with the girls from the WAGS club (wives and girlfriends
of sailors). We are told that at noon yesterday we were 52nd overall and 3rd
in our class. Not bad but I fear we will fall back a few places in the Last
24 hours. For the first time in many days we have other boats around us
adding to the interest in the last few hours. We have all white sails set
and considered tying the bed sheets to the guardrails to get more sail area
to speed us on our way. I have just changed the electronic charts from the
Atlantic to the Caribbean Islands so I suppose that with less that 130 nm
to go we must be nearly there.
It is now very warm on the boat and with following winds difficult to get
air through to cool things down. Not long now and we can all go for a
cooling swim!
