3rd time Lucky!

After two failed attempts due to bad weather this time we had picture perfect weather and was able to get high into the mountains,

do some rock scrambling and climb a couple of the easier peaks.

Sadly the late summer, early autumn conditions high on the glaciers meant that we could not get up higher into the snowfields and

even our attempt to get onto the snowfields of the Annette plateau high above the Meuller glacier was stopped by impassable scree

slopes and gaping chasms in the rock strata.

The Mueller Hut stands on a rocky ridge clear of any avalanche danger (that’s what they said about the first 3 Mueller huts!)

Mt Sefton seen across the Mueller valley in the early morning sunshine, small avalanches fell continuously from the high glaciers on its eastern face.
