We have traveled overnight 262nm north and have broken the journey at Heron Island, one of a number of offshore reefs and Atolls that lie between the mainland and the Great Barrier Reef.
We covered 198nm in the first 24 hours with winds up to 40+ knots, constant rain and cold southerly winds.
The only anchorages in this group of islands are to be found in the sandy patches just of the reef and although they do provide some shelter they are still prone to swell.
Still it will be good get a nights sleep after the hourly watches.
Tomorrow we head north and west back towards the mainland and closer to Darwin, our final destination.
