We celebrated the 4th July with our American
friends off Visions of Johanna.
With support from Richard the manager of Taravanna
Yacht Club, Bill organised a
Pot Luck in the beach side restaurant where
everyone brought food for the BBQ.
Another great night with cruisers from all over the
world and all with great stories to tell of their adventures so
far,
This young Australian couple were sailing back home
from the
UK
Michelle (right) had sailed the wrong way up from Australia to cruise the
Society
having been made redundant in the credit crunch
recession
islands for the Austral winter.
We also visited a Vanilla farm and small processing
company where all the pods are hand sorted.
Despite all the hype Bora Bora has proved to be the
most disappointing of all the Society islands.
Over developed, less friendly and dirty by
comparison with the other islands in the group.
We did take the opportunity to cycle the 32 km
around the island with Trish disproving the age old saying "you never forget how
to ride a bycicle".
So it is time to leave the relatively developed and
cosmopolitan Society Islands and head back out in search of more adventures and
off the beaten track.
Next stop is Maupihaa, the furthest west of the
Leeward islands where a coral atoll should give us more Tuomotu like diving and
snorkelling.
With wifi likely to get a bit scarce here a few
photos from the last few days. Visions of Johanna sailing inside the reef
