Still "Cruisin"
Trish and I have swapped our ocean cruiser “Curious” for Ebyjeeby” our rented motorhome. From Christchurch we drove south west to our first overnight stop in Geraldine, one of a number of clean, well kept, if sleepy towns we travelled through on the first day. From there we travelled another 120km or so to the shores of Lake Tekapo where we stayed for a couple of nights so we could walk the shores of the lake and I could take my moutain bike inland along the many great dirt roads and mountain bike tracks. EBYJEEBY with lake Tekapo and the Makenzie country behind. One of the many walks around the lake We have now come further SW via Twizel to Mount Aoraki/Cook Village deep in the Southern Alps and have already hiked out in very strong winds to the Mueller lake and the snout of the Meuller Glacier. First view of Mount Cook across the low plains of the Makenzie country With winds forecast up to 130km for the region tomorrow it may be a day to spend in the excellent Mt Cook visitor centre and the Sir Edmund Hillary Centre. A very windy/wobbly river crossing |
