A good 24 hours with almost 200 miles covered only a few degrees off our
Rhumb line.
After many days without seeing any other vessel we spotted a Japanese
fishing boat some miles off our starboard bow lit up like a Xmas tree,
probably a squid boat.(they use the bright lights to attract the squid). He
seemed interested in us and flowed our move away to enable us to cross his
bow (I do not like to go behind trawlers as you never know what they drag
behind them) we eventually crossed less than 1/4 mile apart and only then
when we had been forced to make a major course change. Idiot!
All well on board, a better night's sleep for all and beginning to think
about our landfall.
