As forecast the wind has now moved into the East and we have had to change
our tactics for the second half of the passage.
We are now gybing north and south of our Rhumb line and making steady if
somewhat rolly progress.
Apart from the flying fish and the odd bird the ocean seems devoid of life
and the skies grey and cloudy. Not at all what we expected.
There seems to be more flying fish here than in the Caribbean and they fly
in shoals, bursting from the surface and flying for great distances before
disappearing into the waves. Most mornings there is one or two on deck to be
cleared before they stain the teak decking but this morning it seems like a
whole shoal committed Hari Kari with over 2 dozen to be thrown overboard.
Having crossed a time zone some days ago we have now reset the on board
clocks to recognise the 1 hour difference and get the watches in sync with
the dawn and dusk when we usually change sail configurations for the night.
All remain well on board, a little tired from the broken sleep but otherwise
all OK.
