We made reasonable progress in the light winds yesterday with our improvised sail plan but with the wind dying completely at dusk we switched on the engine for a few hours rather than rock and roll and flog the sails. Dusk brought the winds back again and we are now making good progress in 12 to 16 knots winds and if we can continue this pace we should arrive some time during daylight hours on Saturday.

Another fabulous starry sky last night. With no light pollution you begin to get an understanding of the limitless expanse of stars and galaxies, infinity...how do you explain it? The sky was countered by a light show in the sea with 1m “explosions” of greenish white light all around the boat. Not the phosphorescence usually caused by our wake but random bursts of light from some unseen sea creatures.

NO other boats or ships around but we did have a bite on our fishing lines, whatever it was ran out all the line before we could get to the rod and took the hook, lure and weights. Are we just bad fishermen? Back to the freezer for supper again tonight!
