we get people coming to the boat in dugout canoes selling fish, lobsters and
Molas, embroidered cloths that the Kuna women sew together as a bodice and
then fit sleeves to make blouses. We have visited a couple of Kuna villages
that keep the Kuna traditions except that they have mobile phones and
watches! All the men wear ordinary trousers/shorts and shirt/tee shirts but
the women wear the Molas, a wrap around skirt and bead bracelets around
their arms and legs in bright colours, the kids are great, a lot of them are
shy but the outgoing ones come up for high fives. We were not allowed to
take photos of the people but they had no problems with us photographing the
village, boats and pigs living in pens over the sea so that they were self
cleaning!! A guy came to the boat this morning, he had his wife and two of
his grandchildren with him, we didn't buy any of his fish as they were small
and unidentifiable but we gave them tee shirts, some crayons and hair
bobbles for the little girl.
