With gale force winds forecast for the next few days we left Caleta del Sebo on Isla Graciosa a day ahead of schedule and ran before the 20 to 25 knot northerlies down the west coast of Lanzarote at 6.5 to 7 knots under headsail alone. Once again the Atlantic swell gave us some idea of what to expect on the crossing to the Caribbean next month.

We are now safely tucked up in Marina Rubicon on the south coast of Lanzarote listening to the 35knot winds blowing through.

The 37 mile trip south gave us some great views of both Lanzarote and the small islands to the north, with their volcanic past much in evidence. Numerous large cones, the sulphuric colour of the soil and the fantastic shapes of the lava rock formations
