Grenada - Colour and Character

Having spent almost 4 weeks here in Grenada we have been most impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the people.

Almost everyone says hi, good morning, etc, we are asked if we like their Island and even when asked if we need a bus/taxi/guide/fruit/veg/fish etc a polite no thank you receives a "no problem man...perhaps tomorrow"

Unlike many other islands where there is a distinct lack of friendliness that at times borders on hostility, Grenadians are polite, helpful and a lot of fun not only for the benefit of us tourists but also to each other and you can hear people laughing and joking as you walk around town or the villages, unless they are engaged in deep discussions about politics, religion or cricket when voices are raised and tables are banged.....

Having been able to spend quality time here we have got to know a few of the local characters when out and about in the markets and they have been happy to pass on their knowledge with us enabling us to make the most of the local fish, vegetables and fruits.

It's a great island, with great people and we will be sorry to leave in a few days time and look forward to sailing back here at some point in the future.
