A short break in both dental work and work on the boat has allowed us to head north to spend a week i9n northern Thailand with friends Alan and Noi.
They have a number of tracts of land dotted around the region, some cultivating rice, some tobacco or corn in addition to Papaya, Mango's, etc.
They live on land that lies alongside a side river set in the hills and have created 3 or 4 small stilt houses for friends and family to stay.
Trish and I are staying in a house made almost entirely of Teak with 360 degree panormaic views.
We had hired a 4 wheel drive truck for the journey from Chiang Mai to Phraethat came in handy once we left the main roads.
Alan has many plans for the land, all based on a sound organic and environmental basis.
This area is a long way north of Phuket as well as being of a greater altitude so the days a not so humid and unpleasant and the nights are cool enough to need a light duvet. Bliss after months of hot sticky nights.
Another attraction is the large Pool table and swimming hole in the river, just a few steps down from the patio.
