Footloose - Not so fancy free
Footloose....not so fancy free “Do you think I’ve sorted
this splinter?” Come here and have a look
“ “Put Savlon on and keep it clean Otherwise it’ll be a pig’s
foot” A walk on the beach sometime later Proved to be the foots undoing It prickled at first then started to
throb Telling of an infection brewing Too late was the cry, it’s full
of microbes Despite anti-everything cream “We could try poking it with a
big knife?” While we’re ....... in the
middle of the sea The wind was blowing a hoolie The seas were umpteen feet high Tried to keep the poorly foot up Couldn’t put it down if he tried The lads shared the work of the
sailing Took turns to be the head nurse Curious did her best to keep stable But the foot just went bad to
worse “Do you think we should put out
a pan pan” The question was more than a notion “It’s ok... I’ll
sort it..... when I get home” On the other side of the ocean?? Bill was there when they landed He realised how serious it was “You’ll have to get this
sorted” So he and Michael carted him off Settled him in Opua General And stayed to make sure he was fine Bill asked questions and checked up Steve was glad he had Bill by his side Bill, Jo & Gram all visited Michael & Gloria too Todd and Terje took him some grapes He’d told them that’s what
visitors do The hospital food was tasteless So the guys took him in a Chinese The nurse suspiciously followed the
smell And thought it was an un-showered
Steve In the ambulance he was travelling
backwards This always makes him feel ill So he rode as ‘Shot Gun
Steve’ With his good friend ‘Rear
Gunner Bill’ He’d never stayed in hospital
before Casualty was his usual stop This time was a lot more serious He ended up having an op It was a time of quite a few firsts Finding out what ‘in
hospital’s’ about They needed to give him anaesthetic He was put out at being put out Now he’s getting all better Returned to his natural role Captain of his little Captaindom Glad to be back in control We’d like to say a huge thank
you We’re so grateful to have such
great friends We don’t know what we’d
have done without them It’s down to them this tale has
a good end Trish November
