We spent a few days anchored just north of Somosomo
village where we paid our respects to Andy, the 80 year old lady chief and were
befriended by Assinadi and her family, with her 13 year old son Waisake -
Ratuviso acting as our guide.
Assinade and her 14
year old daughter
Trish overseeing one of the village boys having his
hair cut.....badly!
Ben and some of the village kids
The kids loved the dinghy and we were never short
of help to get it ashore or relaunch it as we left.
On one occasion I had shown Waisake how to start
the engine and having left it further down the beach
from Assinade's house he offered to "walk it down
the beach" for us. shortly after there was much commotion
and we looked out to see Waisake driving a dinghy
full of kids down the sea front.
The engine start lesson had obviously been
succesful!
